Bob found his way to Jiu Jitsu after retiring from a long career of racing endurance sports at an elite level. During his racing career, he made 5 appearances at World Championship events in addition to winning 4 national titles and a dozen state titles. After hanging up the shoes, there was a void that was left  empty which led him to BJJ on the recommendation from a good friend. In 2021 he started his journey and went head first down the rabbit hole never looking back. 

Outside of the gym, Bob is a Health and Physical Education teacher and coach where he spends his days educating his students on the importance of physical, mental, and emotional health while focused on developing character and resilience on and off the field.  His passion for educating kids and knowledge of effective teaching/coaching strategies was a natural fit for coaching the Apex youth programs. 

Bob was awarded his Purple Belt in September of 2024 by Professor Payton Wilson and Will Hamilton.
